VIAB participates in Capital Hill Briefing
US-Israel Free Trade Agreement: 25 Years and Beyond
Posted 08/03/2010
The US-Israel Free Trade Agreement is now 25 years old. It was the first US trade FTA agreement and is only 17 pages long compared to subsequent agreements that are 250+ pages long. After 25 years, do we need any changes to the agreement? If yes, what changes?
That's what we addressed in a briefing session on Capitol Hill hosted by the Republican Israel Caucus and the Democratic Israel Working Group.
My short answer: Absolutely, changes need to be made based on the Virginia-Israel experience....
While the other panelists are esteemed experts in policy, I related more to the practical successes and short falls of the agreement using Virginia - Israel business development as the example.
